Project Information

The University of New Hampshire has standardized on the use of Aruba Networks Wireless Access Points (WAP) to offer network connectivity to UNH users. A feature included in the WAPs is the use of Bluetooth Low Energy (BTLE) beaconing to track assets in a particular location. Using software and asset tags, the location of objects in real time can occur, leading to a number of potential uses of this technology once installed and working in a base fashion. This project will establish a tracking application to find portable whiteboards in the UNH Dimond Library as a starting goal, with the potential for other expansions once accomplished. Since other institutions in New England may have also standardized WAPs with Aruba Networks, there is an opportunity to extend this project beyond UNH to learn from each other and build a regional team of developers who can bring new services to light.
